Mind, Body and Soul
Deep Tissue Massage
This is a hands-on body treatment that leaves patients feeling relaxed and renewed. I love showing my patients how just a few treatments can make an enormous difference to their health.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is for athletes of all levels of training from the weekend warrior to professional sports
teams. Sports massage uses stretching as well as a combination of massage strokes. It can be applied
Pre-event (before the actual sporting event begins as a part of the athletes warm-up routine), during an
event (to loosen any muscles that have tightened or sustained trauma) and Post-event (to help the athlete
stretch, address any strains or injuries and reduce stiffness). It is also used to help heal injuries during
training as maintenance and injury prevention.
Trigger Point Therapy/ Neuromuscular
Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a form of soft tissue manual therapy. It is distinguished from other types
of massage in that a quasi-static pressure is applied to the skin with the aim of stimulating specific areas
of skeletal muscle. Often these areas of muscle are myofascial trigger points. NMT is a comprehensive
program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system (brain, spinal
column and nerves) with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage offers a wide variety of benefits for both mother and baby. It addresses many common
discomforts associated with skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts and fluid
retention during pregnancy. Prenatal massage can improve circulation and reduce swelling.
Reiki / Healing Touch
Reiki is a Japanese technique that treats the whole person: body, emotions, mind and spirit. Reiki creates
many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. It is based
on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us causes us to be alive. If “life force energy”
is low, we are likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, we are more able to be happy and healthy.
Healing Touch is an energy therapy in which practitioners consciously use their hands in a heartcentered
and intentional way to support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.
Healing Touch uses the gift of touch to influence the human energy system and the energy field that
surrounds the body.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of essential plant oils to restore and achieve homeostasis. Essential oils,
blended with a carrier lotion, can help reduce inflammation, decrease pain and muscle spasm,
and balance the nervous system.
Swedish Massage
Also referred to as “classic massage,” Swedish massage consists of five styles of long, flowing
strokes. These strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic
tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking.
A calming, relaxing modality, Swedish massage is helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness and in
improving range of motion.
